It’s Friday evening. Aaron’s in a suite with Taylor. Aaron stands, looks in the mirror, and adjusts his tie.

“So, the solution is, the children and the companies merge. It’s a cure-all.”

Aaron finishes tying his tie and turns. Taylor is staring at him in the mirror.

Aaron says, “Don’t worry, sweets. I’ll find time for us. After all, it’s not natural for man to be monogamous. In the Eastern civilizations, it’s a part of life. In the West, we’re Puritans or hypocrites, wealthy men have mistresses and the johns marry and divorce two or three times.”

“Do you love Melissa?”

Aaron runs his hands through his hair.

“Do you love her?”

“She-she-she’s a piece in the puzzle.”

“What about her? Does she love you, or are you just a piece of a puzzle?”

He looks to the side and breathes deep. He nods. “She loves me.”

A tear forms and falls gently from his eye as he looks at the girl.

Taylor looks at Aaron as a mother might. “Do you know what love is?”

Aaron half-smiles and rubs his face. “No, tell me, what is love?”

“It’s a tool that we women use to tame a man’s wandering heart.” Taylor turns. “I shouldn’t be here. The money is needed for my education, but I’m still a fool.”

“You’re no fool.” Aaron walks over and hugs her.

“Maybe men aren’t monogamous. But I don’t believe that a woman can truly give herself to someone that she doesn’t believe she can hold,” Taylor says.

Aaron walks toward the door.

Taylor stops him. “No, I’ll go first. You wait and contemplate.”

“Contemplate?” Aaron asks.

“Yes, contemplate this: after passion dies, love is.” She gently closes the door.
